It's Official: B.I.A. Will Play Spring II Season

This morning, a press conference was held with members of B.I.A.'s front office, including the owner, general manager, and head coach, to officially announce the team's registration for the 2010 Spring II season.  Members of the media gathered to get the latest news on the team, who haven't played since late November.  The overall feeling from the organization is that the team is on the right path to winning another championship, signing new players and keeping the expectation and commitment levels high for each player.

Balls In Action will play their first game in the 2010 calendar year on May, 5.  Times and schedule will be announced later.

Jacob On Loan To Fear My Spheres for An Additional Game

Balls In Action and Fear My Spheres have agreed on the terms and conditions for his participation tomorrow night against COPS (Conoco Phillips) at 9:30pm.  He will re-join Scott, Roy and Ashley, who remain on loan for the season.  Jacob suffered a slight sprain to his right ankle last time he played, but there appeared to be no signs of Jacob unable to play as of this past weekend.

Stephanie's Spring Training in NOLA

Although she wasn't able to play during the 2010 Spring I season, Stephanie is determined to redebut with the team for its 2010 Spring II campaign.  While others are taking some time off from kickball, or on loan to other teams, Stephanie has found herself in a situation where trying to stay in "kickball shape" has its unique opportunities in New Orleans.

As part of the St. Patrick's Day parade tradition, cabbage, carrots, etc. are thrown from the floats.  Luckily Stephanie was aware of this tradition.

"All of a sudden this woman chunked a cabbage at me!  I caught it and it reminded me of a kickball."

Former player Sara, who was visiting Stephanie in New Orleans, was said to be on the floor laughing after the successful cabbage catch.

B.I.A. "Loaners" Can't Help Prevent Rare Loss

Luck wasn't Fear My Spheres' side Wednesday night as they found themselves on a rare 3-1 loss to a very lucky New Kicks on the Block.  Even without their star pitcher, NKOTB proved solid as most players wore green (even one player was dressed up in a Gumby suit!) and kept their errors to a minimum.

Most of Fear My Sphere's kicking were pop ups and there were a few dropped fly balls in the outfield, more than enough to capture three runs in a very heated pitcher duel.

B.I.A's involvement wasn't enough as Roy and Ashley combined for an 0-5 performance.  Scott would drive in the only run to tie the game at 1-1.

Watch the video below for Roy's reaction to the shocking loss on Wednesday night.

B.I.A. Contributes to Fear My Spheres Win Streak

Fear My Spheres chalked up another two victories last night as they defeated D'Feeters 7-3 and Damnit Man, controversally, 4-1.  Scott, Roy, Ashley and Jacob's performances aided in wins over two tough games.

Ashley's hit streak continued against D'Feeters as she went 2 for 2, driving in a run.  Scott would go 2 for 2, including a 2 run homerun.  Roy went 1 for 2.  Defensively, Roy and Ashley kept the outfield clean, while Scott would give up 3 runs in the last inning, which began with him nearly colliding with Fear My Sphere's Norman, on a short pop-fly.

The next game saw Jacob take the field for the first time since mid-November.  Although spraining his ankle while trying to catch a foul ball, Jacob, along with Roy, Scott and Ashley, would go 1-1 against Damnit Man.  The game ended abruptly when the lights turned off (and never turned back on) with one out in the bottom of the fourth.

Scott, Roy and Ashley will take the field for Fear My Spheres next week against  New Kicks on the Block and Mad Batters, both at 6:30pm and 7:30pm respectively, on Field #1.

Jacob On Loan To Fear My Spheres for Game Against Damnit Man

Jacob now joins Scott, Roy and Ashley with Fear My Spheres, agreeing on the terms and conditions for his participation to the 9:30pm game against Damnit Man tomorrow night.  This temporary move will add more speed to an already solid outfield and quick baserunning to an already stacked lineup.  Fear My Spheres will also play D'Feeters at 7:30pm.  Both games are on Field #2 at Memorial Park.

Roy, Ashley Join Scott on Loan To Fear My Spheres; Help in Win

Roy and Ashley join Scott as part of the loan agreement Balls In Action has with Fear My Spheres.  Last night, the three produced a combined 3-for-4 kicking performance, as Fear My Spheres opened up their season with a 6-1 win over the rookie team, Love Advertising.

Ashley went 2-for-2 with two singles, Roy went 1-for-1 with a single, and Scott would popout in his only at-kick.

With Roy and Ashley taking on outfield duties, Scott swapped innings with Fear My Spheres starting pitcher, Norman, giving up one run in three innings.

After the game was over, there was a bit of disappointment on the faces of Fear My Spheres, who are used to better performances than their 6-1 victory expressed.  In the post-game interview, Scott concluded that "when you haven't played since late November, trying to pick up where you left off at the beginning of March is difficult".  Roy added that "the weather was a bit cold, but it warmed up...not too sure what to do with my hands right now."
